“In Japanese popular culture, Purikura is either a photo sticker booth or the product of such a photo booth. The name is a shortened form of the a registered trademark purinto kurabu. The term derives from the English print club. Jointly developed by Atlus and Sega, the first purikura were sold in July 1995.” as taken from Wikipedia
My love is E-Lec-Tric~*
Now, I don’t know how many of you have ever tried taking “purikura” but it gets to be pretty addicting. If you like to take pictures and laugh at yourself, its pretty damn fun. As you can see from the front page I’ve taken some recently and I’ve got to say I’m hooked! It’s pretty sad.
Seriously, I go to Sugoi Life at the Northrdige Mall because on Mondays and Tuesdays its BUY ONE SESSION GET ONE FREE. These picture machines are pretty freaking expensive >_<.
these dimples will take your soul..
Normally one doesn’t go to Purikura alone because its considered sad from what I’ve heard…BUT I got pretty damn excited when I hopped into the booth. PLUS I am pretty vain when I am alone. Common EVERYONE gets pretty vain when they are alone right? They do things they normally wouldn’t do. Like dance around in their underwear for instance. I mean I know I do it because I think I’m the beez kneez when I am alone. Hell when I am alone, I think I’m pretty freaking awesome!
here comes the money shot
So, you put all your money in to pay for this 6×4 sticker picture that comes out with all your poses. Now, when I say “all your money” I really mean its hella expensive. The one I frequently use is $8 usd, thats quite a pretty penny for some super hi res sticker pictures. Hence why I go on 2 for 1 days! Hey, I’ve got an addiction to cute things, let’s leave it at that. What was I saying?
Jay-Z got nuthin' on dis
Oh yea, so you put all your money in the machine. Then you step into the booth and it has all these fancy things happening on the screen. Did I mention that everything is in Japanese? These machines are imported so there are no English translations for anything. In fact, if you’ve never done purikura before, you will probably be lost when picking your options. Luckily for me I like to just press random buttons and hope for the best!
Happy eh? LIES ALL LIES
Ack, off tangent again. picking options, right~! I’m standing there in the booth and the screen is counting down and there is two options with japanese writing on both. One box is pink the other is blue. I don’t like pink, so I pick blue, and presto XD I have 10 seconds now because I picked the top camera angle to take pictures from! YES. This machine has two camera angle options. PRETTY 1337 if you ask me. That’s right fatties who take pictures in bathroom mirrors from the highest possible angle!
It's the America show! YAY~*
I mean that in the nicest way possible, I assure you, my weight challenged friends out there. I don’t hate full figured people, I have a bad attitude and a beer gut, so I lash out at people I shouldn’t >_<. After every pose one does, it counts down, so you can scramble around to take another picture in 10 seconds. Then the camera switches angles by itself, lame >_>. So you have to do a bunch of poses on the floor. I guess if you can handle it, you can get down on all 4s and look pretty sexy/cute/whatever, I on the other hand cannot.
YES HOMO, I mean "no homo"
So I refrain from picking any poses from the lower camera angle. They were all pretty much panty shots anyways and I didn’t want to share them ok? Got that? GOOD. Moving on… I have now finished taking 12 or so poses and I get the option of picking up to 6 out of the 12 to decorate. Once I’ve picked, I step out of the machine and there are two screens on the side of the machine where I can decorate all my pictures neato~! They even have a stylus to draw on the screen with! Isn’t that fun? YES, it is, as you can see from my pictures, I’ve had a little too much fun. Unfortunately there are no decorations that are really awesome so I have to settle with hearts, rainbows, glitter etc. One can pick different borders, awesome random Japanese writing which the common round eye cannot understand, and other various silly things! WOW!
Steparnicus + J4Yx2 = BLATANT
These machines weren’t designed for men, I am sure they were designed as a secret initiation chamber in which Japanese females utilize and hone their awesome cute skills. This is just my opinion, since it’s totally worked on me. I can feel my awesome power lvling up every time I step into one!
